At The Vein Center of Cincinnati, we do more than just diagnose and treat spider and varicose veins. As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Andrew Hearn receives referrals from other vein practices for second opinions and treatment of the most complex venous problems, including DVT blood clots and venous ulcers. These patients are referred to a vascular surgeon due to their extensive knowledge and training focused on the circulatory system. The vascular system is one of the most complicated systems in the body.

For over 20 years, Dr. Hearn has been serving the community of Cincinnati. A well-known Vascular Surgeon, Dr. Hearn has performed thousands of open, minimally invasive, catheter-based, and ultrasound guided vascular procedures. Dr. Hearn started his career in vascular surgery, but while training, teaching, and seeing patients in the field, he found he was often treating people with varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, venous stasis, leg ulcers, or cellulitis. He noted that many of these patients suffered for many years and had a very poor quality of life, and some had spent years improperly diagnosed or treated with now outdated methodologies such as vein stripping. “I have devoted my entire career to the care of patients suffering from Chronic Venous Disorders like varicose veins, venous ulceration, lower limb swelling, and pain. I take particular pride in treating patients who have had prior treatments from other specialists and are still symptomatic. I created The Vein Center of Cincinnati to focus my attention solely on the care of patients with venous disorders”. Dr. Hearn is still motivated everyday by improving the lives of patients with venous disease and training the next generation of Venous Disease Specialists. When Dr. Hearn founded his practice, it was to ensure proper care for large numbers of people who suffer from poorly treated or mismanaged venous disease. "My decision to leave the hospital and focus on venous insufficiency was based upon my desire to work in an office-based practice that affords me the time to interact with patients over many months and take pride in the improvement I can make in their quality of life. My clinical focus is to ensure proper care for large numbers of people who suffer from poorly treated or mismanaged venous disease." Venous disease is often poorly understood by patients and clinicians as being a “cosmetic issue only." It is extremely satisfying on a personal and professional level to be able to diagnose, treat, and monitor a patient’s progress and satisfaction as they go through treatment. Many of our patients do get an ancillary cosmetic benefit from our treatment which adds to their satisfaction.
